TPC's Story
My name is Krystal Mosholder and I am the Owner/Carpenter/Woodworker of TPC - the painted cage. This crazy journey of becoming the Owner of TPC all began in 2016 when I started making custom painted wood signs out of my basement. The signs quickly became a hit in my community and surrounding areas so I began hosting sign painting parties in my customers homes. Over the next few years I wanted to start challenging myself so I began making custom wood pieces such as kitchen tables, coffee and end tables, benches and bed frames. This too, took off more than I ever thought it would and you guessed it, I wanted to challenge myself even more so I started doing wall installs. Even though I loved creating custom pieces for my clients (and still do) my passion quickly became creating new wall designs in my clients homes. As for my company name, I have decided to start using TPC since I no longer do any kind of painting. My accountant, AKA husband, said it was too expensive to completely change the name legally.
When I started TPC, I knew nothing about wood working or carpentry. I am self taught and jokingly tell my clients I attended the College of You Tube when asked how I learned how to do "all of this". I mean the amount of hours I've spent on that website I do feel like I should get some type of degree?! With all of the video watching came A LOT of trial and error. When I say blood, sweat and tears went into learning and growing there really was blood, sweat and a lot of tears. In 2018, my husband and I bought a fixer upper I wanted to be a part of the remodel. It was finally my chance to show my clients what I was capable of doing. I built most of the furniture in our house and also did all of our feature walls from board and batten, to shiplap, to brick tiling.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work on my own house. It was the perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and perfect my carpentry skills. Working on my house has ultimately pushed my business to a whole new level and has brought me to where I am today. Today you can still find me in my workshop making custom wood pieces but I am so excited to see where the carpentry side of my business takes me. I owe all of my clients (and my husband) a huge thank you because without them I wouldn't be where I am today.

I hope that in the future I will have the opportunity to create something custom for you in my workshop or have the opportunity to design a wall or space in your home that you will love for years to come!
